Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

Our Commitment

At Greenbanks House Limited, we are committed to upholding and protecting human rights and ensuring that modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation have no place within our organisation or the services we provide.

This statement sets out the measures we take to identify, prevent, and minimise the risk of modern slavery across our operations. Published in accordance with Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, it reflects our commitment to operating with integrity, transparency, and social responsibility.

About Greenbanks House

Greenbanks House Limited provides residential and respite care for adults with learning disabilities from our home in Barham, Kent.

We are dedicated to supporting individuals to live fulfilling, meaningful lives within a safe, inclusive, and person-centred environment. Inspired by the principles of the Eden Alternative, we promote wellbeing, independence, purpose, meaningful relationships, and a strong sense of belonging.

We believe that every person has the right to be treated with dignity and respect, and to be empowered to make choices about their own life. Our SPARKLE values guide everything we do, influencing how we support people, work with colleagues, and build relationships with partners. These values reinforce our commitment to fairness, inclusion, respect, and the protection of human rights.

Our Zero-Tolerance Approach

Greenbanks House operates a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to carrying out all aspects of our work honestly, ethically, and in compliance with relevant legislation.

Our leadership team actively promotes a culture in which safeguarding, ethical practice, and respect for human rights are embedded throughout the organisation. We expect the same high standards from everyone who works with, for, or on behalf of Greenbanks House.

Policies and Procedures

Our commitment to preventing modern slavery is supported by a range of policies, procedures, and working practices designed to promote ethical conduct and protect vulnerable individuals.

These include:

  • Robust recruitment processes that verify each employee's identity and legal right to work in the UK.

  • A Whistleblowing Policy that enables staff to raise concerns safely, confidentially, and without fear of reprisal.

  • Equality, Human Rights, Harassment, and Bullying policies that promote fairness, dignity, inclusion, and respect.

  • Safeguarding procedures that help employees identify, report, and respond to signs of abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

  • Expectations for suppliers and contractors to operate responsibly and, where applicable, comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.

Together, these measures help create and maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for the people we support, our employees, and our wider partners.

Continuous Improvement

We recognise that preventing modern slavery requires ongoing awareness, vigilance, and commitment. As part of our continuous improvement approach, we will continue to:

  • Review and strengthen our policies, procedures, and safeguarding arrangements.

  • Raise staff awareness of modern slavery and the indicators of exploitation.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of our reporting systems and internal controls.

  • Engage with suppliers and partners to promote ethical standards and responsible business practices.

By working collaboratively and transparently, we aim to ensure that the principles of dignity, respect, fairness, and human rights remain central to everything we do.

Our Philosophy of Care

At Greenbanks House, we believe that every individual deserves a life rich in purpose, opportunity, choice, and meaningful relationships.

Guided by the Eden Alternative philosophy, we strive to create a nurturing and inclusive community where people are encouraged to maintain their independence, develop their strengths, and achieve their personal goals. Our person-centred approach focuses on wellbeing, dignity, connection, and empowerment, ensuring that everyone feels valued, respected, and truly at home.

This statement has been approved by the Board of Directors of Greenbanks House Limited and will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and reflective of our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and protecting human rights.
